The Lowdown On Aerospace
The aerospace industry is a multi-million dollar business that affects the world on an international level. This business includes companies that produce aerospace products for aircraft, space vehicles, propulsion units, guided missiles, aircraft engines, and related parts. Aerospace product suppliers also provide overhauling, rebuilding and conversion services to keep the final aerospace products up and running in a safe manner. Most aerospace product suppliers are located outside the United States and supply things such as LCD monitors, silicon computer chips, and other computer components. These items are shipped to the United States for them to be used when building other aerospace items.
Aerospace product suppliers and the aerospace products that they manufacture can be broken up into four distinct groups. Civil transport aircrafts is the largest aerospace product suppliers that deal with nonmilitary goods. These aerospace products include small airplanes to jumbo jets and they are specifically designed for the transportation of goods and people. Civil helicopters are also part of this segment of aerospace products.
In order to get the airplanes to fly, aerospace product suppliers must also manufacture the engines that are used in both civilian and military craft. These aerospace products are designed and built according to the performance specifications of the aircraft manufacturers to ensure the safety of the air plane and its passengers.
Governmental aircraft and helicopter aerospace products are required to meet standards set out by the defense department. Aerospace product suppliers will ensure that their products can deliver military grade weapons to specified targets, transport troops, and guide ordnance as required. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are another aerospace product that is produced. The crafts do everything from collect data to drop missiles in areas too dangerous to send troops into.
Probably one of the biggest users of aerospace products and a variety of aerospace product suppliers is the National Aeronautic and Space Administration (NASA). They use many aerospace components in their satellite systems, the space shuttle, in control and guidance systems, and other electronic products. The aerospace product suppliers to NASA are primarily electronic parts.
Other businesses and the sections of the federal government use aerospace products and aerospace product suppliers for many other services. These could include launching systems, new propulsion engines, and other electronic parts that are considered classified and not readily released to the general public. Private businesses may have some use for aerospace products, but that particular market has not been completely developed as of yet.
Occasionally aerospace product suppliers are asked to meet the challenge of creating a new system for one of the niches they work in to increase the amount of items that can be used in the aerospace industry. These bids tend to be coveted in the aerospace products community, cost a substantial amount of money, and take years to properly develop for consumption. When this happens, the company that needs the product will bid out to the different suppliers and then choose the bid that meets all of the needs regardless of their cost.
