So many people just spit out their gum anywhere they choose. This can be horrible if the gum become stuck to your shoes creating a huge mess. If you are a business owner or a home owner this can also give your business or home the feeling of being unclean or unkempt. That is not something you want people to feel as they approach your home or business. Chewing gum can also carry germs and you would never want a small child to pick up a piece of used chewing gum and put it in their mouth. But what can you do to clean off the chewing gum without having to call a chewing gum removal company?

There are several different techniques you can try before having to call a chewing gum removal company. The first thing to try is good old hot water. If you only have a few pieces of chewing gum stuck on your sidewalk this trick will be easy and simple to take care of those sticky spots. Heat a glass of water in the microwave until the water is nice and hot. Take the glass outside and pour the hot water on the chewing gum. I suggest you get close to the gum to make sure the water is as hot as possible when you are pouring it on. That should make the gum disappear. If not keep reading there are more tricks to try.

So the water didn’t work? Don’t worry you can try something else. Pour vinegar into a cup and microwave it to heat it up. Take the cup outside and pour the vinegar directly on the sticky chewing gum. Vinegar will make the gum dissolve. Then spray the spot with water to wash away the vinegar.

If the vinegar did not work there is till hope. Take a warm cup of soapy water and a scrub brush outside to the sticky gum. If you don’t have a scrub brush you can also use a toothbrush. Pour the warm soapy water on the sticky chewing gum and then scrub at it with your scrub brush or toothbrush to remove the chewing gum. With a little elbow grease you should have no problem getting the chewing gum to come off of the side walk in front of your home or business.

If you have a large amount of chewing gum stuck to your building or sidewalk of your home or business then you might want to think about investing into renting a power washer. You can usually rent a power washer from your local hardware or home improvement store. You can also try contacting stores that offer equipment for rent. By doing the gum removal yourself you can save yourself and your business a lot of money. So before you call a chewing gum removal company, see if you can do the removal yourself and keep your money in your pocket.
